Withdrawal & cancellation rights
Your right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a contract bought at a distance, under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), implemented in Romania by OUG 34/2014 and elsewhere by national law. This notice explains how that right applies to a Kora booking, and the cancellation policy we offer alongside it. It complements the “Cancellations & refunds” and “Your cancellation & withdrawal rights” sections of our Terms & Conditions.
Why the 14-day right does not apply to bookings
A Kora booking is a contract for a leisure activity to be provided on a specific date or within a specific period. For such date-specific leisure and recreational services, EU consumer law expressly removes the 14-day right of withdrawal (Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16(l); Romania, OUG 34/2014 Art. 16(m)). This lets venues hold a slot for you without the risk of a late, free cancellation. We tell you this before you pay, so the exemption is clear and you can decide with full information.
Kora’s cancellation policy
Even though the statutory 14-day right does not apply, Kora gives you a fair cancellation policy of its own:
- Cancel more than 24 hours before the slot — you receive a full refund.
- Cancel within 24 hours of the slot — the booking is not refundable.
- If the merchant, our team, or the system cancels (for example a withdrawn activity or a payment timeout) — you receive a full refund regardless of timing.
Refunds are returned to your original payment method, in Romanian leu (RON), through Stripe.
Your rights against the merchant
The merchant is the supplier of the experience. Your mandatory consumer rights against the merchant — for example if the experience is not as described or is not provided — are not affected by the above, and the merchant may also offer its own additional cancellation terms.
Exercising a withdrawal right
For any purchase to which a statutory withdrawal right does apply, you can exercise it within the withdrawal period by a clear statement to support@koraexperiences.com. You may use the model wording below:
Model withdrawal formTo Kora (support@koraexperiences.com): I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the following booking: [activity, date, and booking reference]. Ordered on: [date]. Name: [your name]. Account email: [your email]. Date: [today’s date].
